Jaguars rev up for Silverstone Classic

Once again the Silverstone Classic will provide a varied selection of Jaguars on the famous circuit. E types, Knobbly Lister, XJ220 and XJC will be on the track on July 29-31. Justin Law will be driving a XJ220 which represents a formidable partnership.

The Broadspeed style XJC, one of my favourites, will bring back memories of the late seventies and the Knobbly Lister memories of the fifties. The XJC together with a XJS will be in the Historic Touring Car Challenge which will include a host of other notable track classics from the same era such as BMW 3.0 CSLs and M3s, Triumph Dolomite Sprints, Alfa Romeo GTVs, Ford Merkur XR4i, Datsun 240Z plus a pair of mighty V8 propelled Chevrolet Camaros.

Lots of models and marques set to celebrate momentous milestones this summer, including the 50th birthday of the iconic Lamborghini Miura and 25 years of the charismatic Nissan Figaro. Homegrown classics will also be enjoying their weekend in the spotlight with the Lotus Esprit turning 40 this year, the Jaguar XK8 celebrating its 20th birthday, plus the Triumph GT6 and Vitesse 2 Litre, which are both 50.

Additionally it is hoped there will be over fifty Vipers on display to celebrate twenty years of the UK Viper Club. It will be the largest number of Vipers that has ever been gathered together in one place in the UK!

The 2016 Silverstone Classic will mark the 40th anniversary of James Hunt’s Formula 1 World Championship crown. Freddie Hunt will get behind the wheel of his father’s 1976 title-winning McLaren-Ford M23.
